Don’t Replace. Renew.

Our Antique Restoration Process
The antique restoration process begins with carefully hand-stripping the piece to remove old finishes, dirt, and residue. After stripping, the furniture is thoroughly rinsed and cleaned. This step is done entirely by hand to help protect the structure, integrity, and strength of the piece.
Once cleaned, the furniture is carefully disassembled so that any broken, weakened, or missing components can be repaired or replaced. Each part is evaluated and restored as needed. The piece is then rebuilt and re-glued, ensuring a solid and dependable structure that is ready for many more years of use.
After the structural restoration is complete, a stain is carefully selected to enhance and highlight the natural character and beauty of the wood.
To protect the piece and create a long-lasting finish, several coats of pre-catalyzed lacquer are applied. This finish provides both durability and exceptional clarity, allowing the wood grain to stand out. The final sheen can be customized to suit the customer’s preference, ranging from a soft satin finish to a rich, high-gloss appearance.

Is Your Piece a Candidate for Restoration?
Family heirlooms and well-loved furniture often carry history, character, and craftsmanship that’s hard to replace. Even worn or outdated pieces—like a garage sale find or a chair that’s seen better days—can be excellent candidates for restoration.
At Blackline Woodworking, we look beyond scratches, faded finishes, and loose joints to see the potential in every piece. With the right care, techniques, and experience, many items can be restored to a beautiful, “like-new” condition while preserving the character that makes them special.
Before you throw out that old table, dresser, or cabinet, consider restoring it instead. Furniture restoration not only extends the life of a piece you already own, it also reduces waste and keeps quality materials out of landfills. The result is a refreshed piece that’s both environmentally responsible and a perfect fit for your home.
